About FPS
Foundry Pattern Service, Inc. was founded by James W. Richie Jr. in 1959. Bill Smith and Ben Smith purchased FPS from Mr. Richie in 1989. We produce pattern tooling for the foundry industry out of wood, metal, and plastic. We have broadened our capabilities by utilizing the latest technology with our CAD, absolute arm laser scanning, 3D printing and CNC machinery. By expanding the business to meet market needs and continue to grow in industry standards, we can deliver products timelier and efficiently to our customers. Our team consists of many long-term employees who have participated in and have watched our company grow over the last quarter of a century. Our 35,000 sq. ft. facility offers room to meet the customer’s needs. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality products that meet the standards and requirements of the industry today.

Our Services
Design and Engineering
Our in-house design and engineering team can design pattern toolings from customer drawings with CAD software or reverse engineer your existing tooling using an absolute arm (romer arm) laser scanner.
3D Printing
These 3D Printers can create prototypes and custom parts for your tooling needs.
CNC
These programmable machines can produce the tooling you need to exact specifications. Our 3 CNC routers can cut up to 84”x154”. Our HAAS VF4 and VF8 can handle any of your metal or plastic tooling needs.
Patternmaking
Our team of design engineers and patternmakers are truly artists when it comes to creating the tooling for your pattern, core box and mounting and rigging.
